Prevyou Ideas
I would like you look at the Prevyou website. http://www.prevyou.com and comment
PrevYou Mall would be a site that was a virtual mall that had a host of stores within in it that are password protected like the bridal shop and diamond store that Sara's family owns. So her family's store and and my friend's art gallery could be connected because they share PrevYou Mall's virtual space. These stores would be open to limited people with the right user name/password combo, and the user sites would be mainly orchestrated by the merchant. This upscale site would be primarily for expensive purchases that people need family opinions on, etc. They could have blogs about the purchases that are limited and exclusive.
The second, but linked site, would be vYouspace (like Myspace) that is not really protected except to enter the whole network and then you find your friends and people with similar interests to comment on what you have bought and would like to buy. For teenage girls this is a natural fit, and for people like mom, you could find people you know or meet online who like gadgets too and you could talk about your shared experiences buying different gizmos. Or housewives and cutlery. The content here would be consumer driven, not so much merchant driven.
This space is meant to build endless networks of people who love to shop for the same things if it's people you know already or people you meet online. These blogs are not exclusive in the same way that the PrevYou Mall would be. There could be an aspect to it that allows people to shop online securely...but we'd need to talk about how that would work, considering the problems that were raised in the meeting today regarding the retailers.
I think that these could both be two parts of the same site and can each be developed to be really hi-tech and fun shopping tools. I'm wondering if we should start to develop something like this before beta testing.
